  • Why is functional fitness important?

    Developing our functional fitness helps us move better, easier and free of pain through the activities we enjoy so that we can keep doing them.


  • What is functional fitness?

    Functional fitness is a total-body approach that improves mobility, balance and fall prevention, endurance, strength, and brain health. By incorporating the types of movements that we perform every day such as pushing and pulling, lifting and lowering, rotation, and gait patterns, our mind and body are ready to meet the demands of life whether it’s lifting a suitcase into the overhead bin, stepping over a curb, or getting out of a compact car.


  • What programs does CR Functional Fitness offer?

    Working exclusively with older adults, CRFF offers 60-minute individual personal training sessions or small group classes (2-6 people). Every session is customized to meet the client where they are and progress in a safe yet challenging program.


  • What is the facility like?

    CRFF is a fully equipped 2100 sq ft studio in Petaluma, California, designed to be welcoming for everyone at any level of fitness.


  • What can I expect for my first session?

    We’ll go through a health and exercise history, discuss your short and long-term goals, and do some basic movement and balance exercises. I’ll use this information to build a progressive program that is effective and safe.


  • What does a typical session look like?

    No two workout sessions are the same. We may use dumbbells, a stability ball, medicine ball, or resistance bands. Or the program that day could be entirely bodyweight-based. To get more stable, stronger, and more powerful, our bodies need new challenges so I am constantly incorporating different modalities to add variety and fun!
